History

Translift was founded more than 150 years ago, in 1847, as a blacksmith in Nijkerk. In 1966 the first vehicles with cable systems for container handling were released. From the move to Dronten in 1975, the company specialized as a system engineer and producer of container handling systems for waste. The company strongly grows by the increasing export volume. Today approximately 50% of the sales are exported and worldwide there are more than 3.000 VDL Translift systems in operation on an average day. After a short period with an Italian multinational, Translift is again Dutch owned and since October 2014 part of the VDL Groep.
